Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to Smartification in Accounting, Economics, and Financial Management are required to prepare their manuscripts carefully in accordance with the following instructions. Submissions that do not comply with the journal’s formatting, structural, ethical, or referencing requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before entering the peer-review process.

Language of the Manuscript

The full text of the article must be written in Persian.

Each manuscript must also include:

  • a Persian abstract;
  • an English abstract; and
  • an extended abstract in English of approximately 1,000–1,500 words.

The English abstract and extended abstract should accurately reflect the content, objectives, methodology, findings, and conclusions of the Persian manuscript. Authors are strongly advised to ensure that the English sections are written in clear, grammatically correct, and academically appropriate language.

General Structure of the Manuscript

The manuscript should generally include the following sections, as applicable to the type of study:

Title

The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the subject of the study.

Author Information

The names, academic affiliations, institutional addresses, email addresses, and other required author information should be provided separately in accordance with the journal submission system. Because the journal follows a double-blind peer-review process, the main manuscript file should not contain information that directly identifies the authors.

Persian Abstract

The Persian abstract should provide a concise summary of the study, including the research problem or purpose, methodology, principal findings, and main conclusion.

Persian Keywords

Authors should provide appropriate keywords that accurately represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

English Title

An accurate English translation of the article title must be provided.

English Abstract

The English abstract should correspond closely to the Persian abstract and should summarize the purpose, method, major results, and conclusion of the study.

English Keywords

English keywords should correspond to the main concepts of the article and should be consistent with the Persian keywords.

Main Text

The main body of the article must be written entirely in Persian and should be organized in a logical academic structure appropriate to the research design. Depending on the nature of the article, sections may include Introduction, Literature Review or Theoretical Background, Methodology, Findings, Discussion, Conclusion, Limitations, Practical Implications, and Suggestions for Future Research.

Authors should avoid unnecessary fragmentation of the manuscript into excessive headings and subheadings. The structure should remain clear, coherent, and proportionate to the content of the article.

Acknowledgments

Where applicable, authors may acknowledge individuals or organizations that contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

Funding Statement

Any financial or institutional support related to the study should be disclosed. If no external funding was received, authors may state this explicitly.

Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest related to the submitted work.

References

All references must follow the APA style and should include only sources cited in the manuscript.

Extended Abstract in English

An extended abstract in English of 1,000–1,500 words is mandatory for all submitted manuscripts.

Extended Abstract Requirements

The extended abstract is intended to provide international readers with a sufficiently detailed understanding of the article. It should not merely repeat the short English abstract.

The extended abstract should normally include concise explanations of the following elements:

Introduction and Purpose: The research problem, background, significance, objectives, and, where applicable, research questions or hypotheses.

Methodology: The research design, population and sample, data collection procedures, instruments, variables, analytical methods, and other relevant methodological information.

Findings: The principal results of the study, including the most important statistical, qualitative, conceptual, or analytical findings.

Discussion and Conclusion: Interpretation of the findings, their relationship with previous research or theoretical expectations, major conclusions, implications, and relevant recommendations.

The extended abstract should be written in formal academic English and should remain between 1,000 and 1,500 words.

Font and Typography

The journal requires the following fonts:

Persian text: B Lotus

English text: Times New Roman

These font requirements apply to the main text, abstracts, keywords, tables, figures, headings, captions, and references, according to the language used in each section.

Authors should use consistent formatting throughout the manuscript and avoid unnecessary changes in font type or style.

Referencing Style

The journal follows the APA style for in-text citations and the reference list.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all citations in the text correspond exactly to entries in the reference list and that all listed references are cited in the manuscript.

In-text citations should follow APA conventions, for example:

  • One author: (Smith, 2022)
  • Two authors: (Smith & Brown, 2022)
  • Three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2022)

For direct quotations, page numbers should be provided where appropriate.

The reference list should be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author and formatted consistently according to APA requirements.

Authors should carefully verify names, publication years, titles, journal names, volume and issue numbers, page ranges, DOI information, and other bibliographic details before submission.

Tables

Tables should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the manuscript.

Each table should have a clear and concise title. Notes and abbreviations should be explained below the table where necessary.

Tables should be created as editable text or table objects and should not be inserted as images unless absolutely necessary.

Authors should avoid unnecessary duplication of information between tables and the main text.

Figures and Illustrations

Figures, diagrams, charts, and other illustrations should be numbered consecutively and accompanied by appropriate captions.

All graphical materials must be clear, legible, and of sufficient quality for publication.

Any figure reproduced or adapted from another source must be properly cited, and authors are responsible for obtaining permission where required.

Numbers, Equations, and Statistical Reporting

Authors should report numerical and statistical information accurately and consistently.

Statistical symbols, coefficients, significance levels, confidence intervals, effect sizes, and other relevant indicators should be presented clearly and according to accepted academic conventions.

Equations should be numbered when necessary and presented in an editable format.

Authors should ensure that decimal notation, percentages, units, and statistical abbreviations are used consistently throughout the manuscript.

Research Methodology and Reporting

Authors should provide sufficient methodological detail to allow readers to understand how the research was conducted and, where applicable, to replicate the study.

Quantitative studies should clearly report the study design, population, sampling method, sample size, measurement instruments, validity and reliability procedures, and statistical analyses.

Qualitative studies should adequately describe the research approach, participant selection, data collection procedures, coding or analysis process, and strategies used to ensure trustworthiness.

Mixed-method studies should explain the rationale for combining methods and clarify how quantitative and qualitative components were integrated.

Ethical Requirements

Studies involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards.

Where required, authors should provide information regarding ethics committee approval, institutional review approval, or informed consent.

Authors are responsible for preserving confidentiality and protecting the privacy of research participants.

Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are prohibited.

Plagiarism Screening

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using iThenticate.

Authors should ensure that all borrowed ideas, wording, data, tables, and figures are appropriately acknowledged and cited.

The journal does not evaluate plagiarism solely on the basis of a numerical similarity percentage. Similarity reports are examined in context, and inappropriate overlap may result in a request for revision or rejection of the manuscript.

Authorship

All listed authors must have made a meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.

Honorary authorship, guest authorship, gift authorship, and ghost authorship are not acceptable.

Any request to change the authorship list after submission must be justified and approved by all affected authors.

Double-Blind Peer Review

The journal follows a double-blind peer-review process.

Authors must remove their names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and other identifying information from the manuscript file submitted for review.

Self-references should be written in a way that does not reveal the authors’ identities unnecessarily.

Author information should be entered only in the designated sections of the submission system or provided in a separate title page where required.

Originality and Simultaneous Submission

Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not have been published previously in substantially the same form.

A manuscript must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original and that all co-authors have agreed to the submission.

Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to the journal, including any content prepared with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools.

Artificial intelligence systems may not be listed as authors.

If AI tools have been used substantially in writing, analysis, translation, data processing, or preparation of the manuscript, such use should be disclosed where appropriate.

Authors must carefully verify the accuracy of any AI-assisted content, including references, data, interpretations, and conclusions.

Submission Files

Authors should normally prepare the following materials for submission:

  • the anonymized main manuscript;
  • author information or title page, where required;
  • Persian and English abstracts;
  • English extended abstract;
  • tables and figures, where applicable;
  • ethical approval information, where applicable;
  • funding and conflict of interest statements; and
  • any supplementary files required for review.

All manuscript files should be complete, editable, and carefully checked before submission.

Revision of Manuscripts

When revisions are requested, authors should address all comments made by the دبیر and reviewers carefully and systematically.

A revised manuscript should normally be accompanied by a response document explaining how each comment has been addressed. Where the authors disagree with a recommendation, a clear academic justification should be provided.

Authors should clearly indicate revisions where requested by the journal.

Proofreading and Final Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the linguistic, scientific, statistical, and bibliographic accuracy of their manuscript.

Before final submission, authors should carefully proofread both the Persian and English sections and ensure consistency between the Persian abstract, English abstract, extended abstract, main findings, and conclusions.

The corresponding author is responsible for reviewing the final version before publication and promptly reporting any errors identified during the production stage.

Final Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that the full article is written in Persian, both Persian and English abstracts are included, the mandatory 1,000–1,500-word English extended abstract is provided, Persian sections use B Lotus, English sections use Times New Roman, and all citations and references follow APA style.

Authors should also verify that the manuscript is anonymized for double-blind review, all tables and figures are properly numbered, required ethical and conflict-of-interest statements are included, and the manuscript has not been submitted simultaneously to another publication.
